Port Eden
Port Eden is a deep-water port on the far south coast of NSW. Its stoic, tough history and fluctuating prosperity still resonates today. Once a whaling station and cattle transport hub it has been replaced with major port infrastructure to accommodate cruise ships, water police command and navy vessels.
The port still services the wood chip industry, harbours a commercial fishing fleet and is a safe haven for passing mariners. Boats need continual maintenance (rust never sleeps) and it’s the characters that work and use the ports, wharves and facilities that are the focus of this challenging photographic project.
